SR Architects have obtained planning permission for the change-of-use site redevelopment of an existing doctor's surgery housed in a Victorian end of terrace dwelling and an adjacent detached pharmacy building on the site to form a private residential development. The new development consists of 7 two-bed flats in the original surgery building and 4 three-bed dwellings in a terrace to the rear of the site in the location of the to-be-demolished pharmacy.  The new terrace, whilst respectful of the surrounding fabric context, has been designed to exhibit a contemporary approach to the Victorian terrace form.  Each dwelling, though narrow, has been efficiently laid out to maximise internal space within the tight site confines.  The site design has been worked to allow for the minimum required car parking for the number of dwellings, but has sought not to overburden the open space with cars.
